Tape Measure Yagi

Building a tape measure yagi is a great project for both the new and seasoned ham. It is a fun and inexpensive way to learn a little antenna design and build a useful tool. This simple project is useful for anything that would require a directional antenna such as working satellites, foxhunting, or simply trying to reach a distant repeater.

I am very fond of Michael KB9VBR's video and blog post on the project. I followed his instructions and my yagi has held up since 2019 with good results. The pvc tubing and hose clamps are not really necessary but do add some robustness to the project. I would also recommend wrapping the coax around the pvc tubing a few times to form a choke balun but you can still do well without it.
